Scooter – Owner and Head Trainer

Scott has a degree in Business Management from North Georgia College and State University and is one of the founders of the Heart WOD that raises money for congenital heart disease.  One of his most memorable fitness experiences was completing the Journey of Hope cross country bike ride in 2007.  He biked 4,164 miles with a group on the ride.  Scott enjoys adventures and was able to show this off when he won the Conquer the Gauntlet Obstacle Course Race in 2012 at Burns Park in North Little Rock.  Scott also has been involved in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu through the F4 Martial Arts Acedemy in Maumelle, Arkansas and won the Beginner No-Gi category and placed third in the Beginner Gi category at the Nava Memphis Grappling Championship in 2013.  Last year, he fisnished in the top 10% of the North Central Region at the conclusion of the Crossfit Open.  He is currently interested in getting stronger and is preparing for his first strongman competition in May, 2014.  He loves to challenge people and is againt the phrase “I can’t”.

Brian Newman – Coach

brian

Brian is one of the founders of the Heart WOD that raises money for congenital heart disease.  He is a true inspration to the crossfit community because he was born with congenital heart disease, yet still coaches and pushes himself through Crossfit workouts.  Brian has completed several triathlons and half-marathons.  He coaches the majority of our morning classes and enjoys encouraging people to overcome obstacles.  He has a special interest in working with children and plans on getting his Crossfit Kids Certification soon.

Sarah Newman – Assistant Coach

Sarah has been a runner her whole life and started Crossfit after a running injury.  She has ran seven marathons, 14 haf-marathons and several triathlons.  Sarah is interested in getting stronger and has a special interest in Strongman training.  Sarah manages the Nutrition Facebook page for Rock City Crossft and enjoys taking pictures for the Rock City Crossfit website and Facebook page.

Allen Hyslip – Website/Social Media Assistant

Average Joe Paleo

 

Allen is a charter member of Rock City Crossfit. He is a husband and father of two boys 21 and 16, he has been a registered nurse for the last 20 years. He has been doing Crossfit for the last 8 years and tried several “diets” with very short lived results. In March of 2015 he was tipping the scale at 240 pounds but with the help of the paleo diet and Crossfit he was able to drop and keep off over 40 pounds. He credits much of his success to the support he has received at Rock City Crossfit. He loves to talk all things diet and has also been helping with the Rock City Crossfit Endurance team for the last few years. He helps maintain the Rock City Crossfit website as well as his own website Average Joe Paleo, his site details his fitness journey and diet regament that he has used over the last year to gain optimum health.
